Its been almost a year since I wrote up my adventures here in Badley Wood.
I love living here and even though its hard work the end results are well worth it. I love it when a plan comes together. Of course there's been as much chaos as calm, but generally speaking, number 2 is a sanctuary, appreciated by everyone who comes here.
In September Jeannie and I went away for a few days to Istanbul. Christopher had taken me there for my 50th birthday and I wanted to go back for my 60th. It was great, Istanbul is an amazing place, with visitors from all over the world, but the locals were just as friendly and jolly as they had been 10 years earlier. It was hot, but not too hot, and the sun shone continuously. We stayed in a small hotel near to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia, and the Topkapi Palace so we didn't have to walk too far. We saw so many wonderful places we almost got visual overload, but we diluted it with masses of shopping and wonderful food, washed down with apple chai.
I was inspired by Istanbul to make these, which I sold for Christmas presents.
Autumn was gorgeous , the weather was good and we all enjoyed walking in the woods.
I finally managed to finish my huge granny stripe blanket, although I haven't sewn all the ends in yet, its the worst part and it may never happen.
I carried on with my chicken breeding throughout the autumn until the Buffs stopped laying with the advent of the colder weather and shorter days. I had loads of chicks of various ages to feed and keep over the winter which at the time seemed like a mistake, although it turned out not to be so.
